The World Happiness Report 2025, which was published on March 20, has once again ranked Finland as the happiest country. The report ranks 147 countries based on various social, physical and emotional factors. India has been ranked 118th in this report and Pakistan 109th.
India’s position
India is ranked 118th in this report, which shows a decline from 94th position in 2022. Of the six factors included in the report, India ranks high in social support, which reflects the country’s community-oriented culture and living habits with large families. However, India scored lowest on the factor of freedom, which measures how many choices people feel in their society and how satisfying those choices are.
Pakistan’s Ranking
Pakistan is ranked 109th, slightly better than India. Social support and collectivism have also been important factors for Pakistan, but Pakistan’s position is also weak from the point of view of freedom and corruption.
Finland is the happiest country and Afghanistan is at the lowest position
Finland has occupied the top position for the third consecutive time, while Denmark and Iceland have maintained their positions in second and third places respectively. These countries top the happiness indices due to their social and economic stability, civil liberties and high standard of living.
At the same time, Afghanistan has got the lowest position, which reflects the persistent difficulties and struggles in the lives of women. It is followed by Sierra Leone and Lebanon, where people face serious problems in the quality of life.
The impact of charity and caring
This year’s report also focuses on the impact of “caring and sharing.” The survey asked whether people donate and whether they receive support from their community. The report concludes that “caring” behaviors not only benefit recipients, but also bring blessings and happiness to givers.
