Visakhapatnam (Staff Correspondent):State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Shantanu Thakur on Wednesday visited Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) Head Office in Visakhapatnam.
During the visit, Thakur engaged with all HODs of DCIL and commended the organization’s ongoing efforts in supporting port development and maintaining navigational channels nationwide through its dredging operations. He emphasized the importance of empowering MSMEs and local vendors, urging DCIL to foster their growth in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
DCIL Chairman Madhaiyan Angamuthu briefed the Minister on the corporation’s strategic initiatives and its pivotal role in strengthening dredging infrastructure at major and minor ports across India. Senior officials, including MD & CEO Durgesh Kumar Dubey, IRTS and Capt. S. Divakar, CGM, provided insights into current projects and the organization’s financial health.
Thakur appreciated DCIL’s dedication to enhancing India’s maritime infrastructure and highlighted the need for indigenous capacity-building in the dredging sector. He encouraged the team to continue their contributions toward developing a modern, efficient, and self-reliant maritime economy.
The visit reaffirmed DCIL’s significance in nation-building and underscored the government’s commitment to bolstering port and shipping sectors through collaborative efforts.
