Mumbai (Harshit Yadav), 21 October: Building a home bar is not a fun project, but it’s even more rewarding once you’ve set it up. I remember when I first thought about it—honestly, I wasn’t even sure where to begin. But the idea of having my little slice of cocktail heaven at home? Oh, that kept me going.
Follow These Steps To Build A Home Bar.
Start with the Space Now
The first thing you’ll want to consider is the space. You don’t need a massive area to make this work. A nook in the living room or a kitchen corner will do just fine. I’ve seen some clever people convert closets into home bars. Find a spot that works for you. Keep in mind that the location should feel inviting. You’ll want it to be somewhere you’d naturally gravitate towards after a long day—maybe even with dim, mood lighting.
Essential equipments: Keep it Simple
Sure, a fancy shaker and a wine fridge sound cool, but will you use all that?
I started with :
A few shelves for bottles
A good set of glasses (because, let’s face it, drinking from a plastic cup isn’t quite the vibe)
A nice little countertop to mix drinks.
If you even went all out and got a vintage bar cart. It will look great but will collect dust soon. So, be realistic.
Stocking Up
As for the drinks, that’s where your personality comes in. Stock what you like, and don’t worry too much about having everything under the sun. A couple of bottles of your favourite drinks and some mixers, and you’re set.
Personalize It
The key to a great home bar is making it yours. Add quirky signs, neon lights, or a vintage poster. Oh, and if you can throw in a bit of yourself, even better! That’s where the magic happens.
Building a home bar is about creating a space that reflects your style and makes you happy. Keep it simple, stock what you love, and enjoy the process!
