New Delhi (Nilesh Tiwari), December 10: Australia recovered well after suffering loss in the first Test of the series in Perth and thrashed India in the second Test in Adelaide. After suffering a humiliating 10-wicket loss in the Day Night match at the Adelaide Oval, India’s chances of keeping the Border-Gavaskar Trophy were badly damaged.

India lost the match despite the return of captain Rohit Sharma, who led the team after missing the first Test. The batting order of India underwent a sea change with Rohit’s return. Rohit pushed Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, the successful opening duo of the Perth Test, down to bat at number six instead of at the beginning of the innings. But in both the innings, Rohit failed, and so, India lost, thus the strategy was not fruitful as well.

Concern has been raised by the recent performance of Rohit. He became just the third Indian skipper to be sent back for single-digit scores in both innings of a Test match in Australia after scoring just three and six in the Adelaide Test. In the game’s longest format, where his performance has been rather muted recently, the Indian skipper has the onus of going back to his previous standards of play. During India nets session.

Virat Kohli was also working really hard. His current propensity to edge the ball to the slips has been exacerbated by his focus on honing his backfoot play and footwork when playing front-foot shots. Even Kohli was not able to be as effective with the bat as he might have been in the second Test match against Australia.
