New Delhi (Nilesh Tiwari), December 02: Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who led the Tigers in the two-match Test series against the West Indies ,will be leading them in the 50-over format.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was named Bangladesh’s new captain for their ODI series against the West Indies after Najmul Hossain Shanto was unable to recover from a groin injury. After captaining the Tigers in the two-match Test series against the Caribbean team, Mehidy will be heading them in the 50-over format. The left-handed batsman Afif Hossain Dhrubo has been called up to the ODI team once more after a year. During the New Zealand tour last year, the 25-year-old last played in an international cricket match. After participating in the ODI series against Afghanistan, Zakir Hasan has maintained his place in the squad.
Following an impressive ODI debut against Afghanistan, Nahid Rana was retained in the squad. Towhid Hridoy, meanwhile, was unable to secure a position in the squad due to an injury to his right groin. The BCB medical staff will assess his injuries after he returns from a two-week absence.
“Hridoy had complained of pain in his right groin region and subsequent investigations have confirmed the presence of a medical condition. He has been advised to rest, and we will reassess him in two weeks to determine his readiness to play,” BCB Sports Physician Monzur Hossain Chowdhury said in a press release.
