New Delhi (Nilesh Tiwari): Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins and his wife Becky have welcomed their second child-a girl-named Edith. In 2021, the couple announced that they are expecting their first child, a son named Albie, through Instagram.
“She is here,” Becky Cummins posted on Instagram with a photo of the baby. “Our beautiful baby girl, Edi … Words cannot describe how overjoyed & full of love we feel right now.”
Cummins has been omitted from Australia’s current two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to an ankle injury and the birth of his second child.
The reins have been handed over to Smith. Cummins too will not feature in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next month with a hand injury.
Cummins had missed the Test series against Sri Lanka last year as he was present to welcome his second child. The ankle injury also did not enable him to continue training after that five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy match against India.
“Pat Cummins hasn’t even been able to attempt any form of bowling so he’s very unlikely, so that would mean we do need a captain,” head coach Andrew McDonald said.
“Steve Smith and Travis Head are the two that we have been having discussions with while building out that Champions Trophy team alongside Pat (Cummins) back home. It will be those two we consider for that leadership role,” said McDonald.
The Champions Trophy would be played in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates starting February 19 from Karachi. Both Hazlewood and Cummins are part of Australia’s 2025 Champions Trophy team.
However, it is allowed by rules that the teams can be changed until February 12.
