New Zealand beat India by eight wickets and recorded their historic victory in India after 1988. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah took two early wickets to uplift hopes, but Ravindra and Young took the game away from India and became the first team outside ENG and AUS to beat India in a Test match in India.
Following a target of 107 on Day 5, New Zealand lost the wicket of their Captain Tom Latham in the first innings. Indian Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah struck on the second ball of the day to trap Latham lbw.
However, Will Young is 48 not out and Rachin Ravindra is 39 not out. Since 1988, New Zealand has now become just the third team to beat India in India and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
INDIA’S MASSIVE COLLAPSE-
Previously, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. New Zealand’s bowlers Matt Henry and William O Rourke went through India’s batting lineup. Besides Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, Nobody could score in double digits. Five Indian batters scored ducks as India team bowled out for 46, their lowest score on home soil. Matt Henry secured a five-wicket haul.
