One such unforgettable moment recently came in the life of Bengaluru resident Anil Kant Chaudhary and his wife Archana, when they saw their son Atul Chaudhary fly a plane as a captain for the first time on a commercial flight.
On May 22, on a flight from Chandigarh to Bengaluru, the parents themselves were among the passengers on their son’s first mission. This experience made father Anil so emotional that he shared a heart-touching post on LinkedIn, which is now rapidly going viral on social media.
In his note, Anil Chaudhary writes, “If someone moves his regular seat 3 feet forward, how much can it change his responsibilities? If that person is a pilot, this change can be life-changing. Moving from the right seat to the left seat in the cockpit makes the Senior First Officer a Captain.”
He further explains that a captain has the responsibility of co-pilots, crew and hundreds of passengers on his shoulders. “At 30,000 feet, the captain is the guardian of all,” he wrote.

Son’s success brings sparkle to parents’ eyes
After this first flight, a special tradition was performed on reaching Bengaluru. The parents formally placed the “fourth strip” on their son’s shoulder – which symbolizes a pilot becoming a captain.
In his post, Anil Chaudhary thanked IndiGo Airlines, the Gondia-based flight school, the CAE training center in Madrid, and everyone who contributed to his son’s journey. He wrote, “We are grateful to those who blessed and guided our son. Our message is – keep flying, keep smiling. Our blessings are always with you.”
