The Indian cricket team is going through a tortuous phase in Test cricket when they faced defeat in the series on home ground for the first time in the last twelve years.

They were defeated 0-3 by New Zealand, whereas they lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in ten years to Australia which won the series 3-1 for 2024-25.

Ex-cricketer and former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh feels the 0-3 home series loss to New Zealand is a greater concern than defeat to Australia but still remains one of the most discussed incidents in Indian cricket.

And Yuvraj also came out in defence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have been on the decline with the bat.

Yuvraj Singh said the home loss to an undermanned New Zealand squad (0–3) was more concerning than the Border–Gavaskar defeat, considering India’s previous setbacks.

Though it was difficult, losing to a powerful Australian team was less depressing than the historic home loss, he said, calling the New Zealand series loss “not acceptable.”

Defending Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma The criticism about the performance of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma was on the roll when Yuvi stood in to defend him.

While continuing to state the same, he also maintained on how much these two cricketers contribute towards Indian cricket, referring to both as “two of the greatest cricketers of this time.”

He said players like Rohit and Kohli must be taking the most from their below-par performance. Yuvraj requested the great professionals and former achievers with the professions of their pair and their earlier histories to stick with them in this trying hour.

Yuvraj used his personal life to explain the importance of helping players through tough times. He urged the critics to be more moderate, as helping people in need during tough times requires more effort than mere criticism.
