Greater Noida: The central government has clarified that if there is no FASTag on the vehicle or if payment through FASTag fails for any reason, the driver may be required to pay double the toll amount in cash. However, if payment is made through UPI, only 1.25 times the toll amount will be payable as per the rules.
The central government says, “All vehicle drivers are requested to take a photocopy of it and keep it safely in their vehicle.”
“It is often observed that toll personnel refuse to accept payment via UPI when there is no FASTag, or they take double the amount through UPI and issue a cash receipt. This is the main reason for disputes and arguments,” the central government added.
The toll issues came in light when some toll collection workers beaten up an Uttar Pradesh advocate. The advocates in UP have started staging protest after this incident.
