Mumbai (Harshit Yadav): As the holiday season takes over Mangaluru, the city witnessed an unparalleled celebration of flavours and festive cheer at the much-anticipated Mangaluru Wine and Cake Festival 2024. Held on December 22 at the picturesque Kadri Park, this event, hosted by Rathna’s Wine Gate, transformed the serene location into a festive wonderland. With the tagline “Sip, Savour, and Celebrate,” the festival delivered an unforgettable experience, captivating the hearts of locals and visitors alike.

A Celebration of Culinary Delights

The third edition of this month’s wine festivals, Sunday’s event stood out with its irresistible combination of artisanal wines, decadent cakes, and traditional Kuswar. As the countdown to Christmas and New Year has begun in Mangaluru, this holiday is perfect for people to enjoy the delights of the festive period while also enjoying the joyous atmosphere.

The event was scheduled from 10:30 AM until 9:30 PM and was bustling with visitors throughout the day. The wines presented covered the entire spectrum, from fruity reds to tangy whites, and this gave aficionados, as well as beginners, a great chance to relish several tastes. Besides the wine, there were various sweets in various shapes, ranging from syrup plum cakes and the king of desserts to traditional Kuswar. Mangalorean beauty is in the form of the Christmas snacks only Mangaloreans make, as well as the combination of rice laddoos, rose cookies, and kidiyo.

An Enchanting Atmosphere

Dale Rodricks and Oak Sessions were the local artists imparted happiness and warmth in the park through their music. They performed a mix of holiday tunes and popular songs, which served as an excellent musical background for the event, whose aim was to unite people.

Furthermore, boosting the beauty of the festival was the presence of prominent officials, including Mullai Muhilan, DCP Siddarth Goyal, Assistant Commissioner Harshvardhan, and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Dr. Santhosh. Their act of involvement revealed the true meaning of the festival for the city’s citizens during that time off.

A City Dressed for the Holidays

The Christmas preparations had infected all streets that lead to the City centre, provoked joyfully by the fairy lights twinkling on the northerly wind. The KS Rao Road, Milagres and Hampankatta shopping centres are a crowd of people with things happening there, meaning they are among the most preferable shopping places in the city, and the main market is also a place of interest to those who come to shop. Even the sellers selling Kuswar and Christmas ornaments are present, who make the above-mentioned goods.

Local bakeries are not behind the charm that is there because of festive celebrations. The transformation of this bustling city into a festive centre is not a mere coincidence.

A Celebration to Remember

The Mangaluru Wine and Cake Festival 2024 was not just a festival, it was a paradise. The combination of high-quality culinary delights, love songs, and community happiness made the preparation for the upcoming Christmas Day memorable for the participants, so much so that they were able to go back home with cherished memories.
