BENGALURU: Indian Cricket Player Rohit Sharma expressed his disappointment on Thursday, admitting, “It was my misjudgment of the pitch,” after his team posted a record low innings total of 46 in a home Test match. Despite New Zealand’s strong performance, he remains hopeful of turning the situation around.
New Zealand pacers Mark Henry and William O’Rourke combined to take nine wickets, dismissing India for just 46 runs on the second day of the first Test at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rohit Sharma, who chose to bat first amid overcast conditions, expressed his disappointment during the post-day press conference. “I’m feeling a bit hurt because I made that decision. We found ourselves bowled out for only 46 runs. As a captain, it definitely stings to see that number,” he said, while New Zealand was in a strong position at 180/3.
Rohit Sharma was deeply distressed by India’s paltry total of just 46 runs.
“I feel pained to see the score of 46 as captain since it was my decision to bat first. However, making one or two poor decisions in a year is acceptable,” Rohit acknowledged during the post-match press conference.
Rohit also acknowledged his misjudgment regarding the Chinnaswamy pitch. –
“Clearly, I misjudged the pitch and didn’t read it well enough, which has led us to this situation. Today was a very tough day for us. We’ve faced matches like this in the past; it was a challenge, but we need these kinds of challenges whenever possible,” Rohit stated.
