New Delhi (Political Correspondent): Shalimar Bagh MLA-elect Rekha Gupta has been selected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. She will take oath on Thursday. Interestingly, Parvesh Verma, who defeated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat, has been elected as the Deputy Chief Minister.

Senior BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated her on being elected the leader of the BJP Legislative Party.

Amit Shah said that he has full faith that she will work with dedication in the direction of the resolution taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make Delhi one of the top capitals of the world. He is confident that the BJP government under her leadership will work day and night to fulfill the hopes and expectations with which the mothers and sisters of Delhi have blessed the BJP.

 

Rekha Gupta wrote on social media website X, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the top leadership for trusting me and entrusting me with the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister. This trust and support of yours has given me new energy and inspiration. I pledge that I will work with full honesty, integrity and dedication for the welfare, empowerment and overall development of every citizen of Delhi. I am fully committed to this important opportunity to take Delhi to new heights.”

 

Arvind Kejriwal also congratulated her for this role and said, “I hope that she will fulfill all the promises made to the people of Delhi. We will support her in every work for the development and welfare of the people of Delhi.”

Rekha Gupta is the BJP’s national executive member. She has served as the general secretary and president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU). She has also served as a councillor from Uttari Pitampura in 2007 and North Pitampura in 2012.
