Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was recruited by five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians on Sunday to replace injured IPL 2025’s Allah Ghazanfar.
The 18-year-old Afghan spinner will also be missing the next Champions Trophy due to a fracture of the L4 vertebra, in his left pars interarticularis.
Mumbai Indians hope for a speedy recovery of Ghazanfar and welcome Mujeeb to the #OneFamily, MI tweeted in a post.
Youngest-ever Afghan cricketer, Mujeeb had captured everyone’s heart at some point and made his IPL debut when he was 17 years old.
At a rate of nearly 6.5, Mujeeb has taken 330 wickets in more than 300 T20 (domestic and international) matches. Mumbai Indians shelled out ₹4.80 crore to acquire young 18-year-old off-spinner Ghazanfar in the IPL mega auction.
