Greater Noida (National Desk): Jaipur police on Monday arrested IIT Baba Abhay Singh with ganja. However, he was immediately granted bail. Police had received information that Abhay Singh, who was staying in a hotel, was threatening to commit suicide on social media. When police reached the hotel, Abhay said- I must have said something after smoking ganja. Ganja was found during the search.

However, Abhay Singh said, “Someone said that Babaji is committing suicide. The police came up with a strange excuse for the case. Then they understood. I said that if you consume this prasad (ganja) then so many people smoke it in Kumbh, then arrest them all.”

Abhay Singh is a graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, who became popular as “IIT Baba” at Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. He turned to spirituality to search for truth.

Shiprapath Police Station SHO Rajendra Godara said that they received an input that Abhay Singh was staying in a hotel, and he might commit suicide. When they reached there, Abhay Singh said that he consumes ‘ganja’, he still has it in his possession, and he might have said something when he was unconscious.

Rajendra Godara further said, “Possession of ‘ganja’ is a crime under the NDPS Act. So, we arrested him… Due to the small quantity, we have interrogated him and then released him on a bail bond. His followers informed the police that he was going to commit suicide as he had posted something on social media pages… If needed, he will be called again for the interrogation.”
