New Delhi: The Wildlife institute of India has discovered an unique mud nesting frog from Namdapha Tiger Reserve of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Wildlife institute of India, Dehradun on Wednesday informed, “This frog is characterised by its fanged jaw and found to make cup shaped subterranean nest deep under the evergreen forest floor loaded with leaf litter. It is named after Motijheel lake of Namdapha Tiger Reserve, known for its rich amphibian diversity.”
“The loud and clear “ woooooak” call of this newly discovered frog resonates in Namdapha during April and May,” Wildlife institute of India added.
The mud nesting frog has been named ‘Limnonectes motijheel’.
