The former Indian cricketer congratulated javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on his marriage to his life partner Himani. Neeraj Chopra, the world champion javelin thrower and Olympic gold medallist for India, was seen marrying.

Neeraj announced the news and posted several pictures with his life partner Himani on Instagram on Sunday. Neeraj received best wishes from Raina on X, who wished him a journey full of wonderful memories with Himani.

“Many congratulations @Neeraj_chopra1. May your journey together be filled with beautiful memories and unwavering companionship,” Suresh Raina wrote on X.

Chopra’s throw in the javelin for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris broke records, and he was one of the biggest athletes India has ever seen. Chopra ended up with a best throw of 89.45 meters, thus failing to keep his gold title.

Though he did great on his second attempt, Chopra went four straight foul throws, keeping him from bringing home the gold.

Chopra is the second Indian male athlete to have won two Olympic medals in a single event after the country’s independence. Furthermore, he is the first and only Indian athlete to have won two medals at the Olympics—one in Paris in 2024 and one in Tokyo in 2020.

Red flags disbarred Chopra’s first and third attempts, while he was booked on his final three. Throwing 89.45 meter was not sufficient for him to retain his gold medal even though, he had quite a good session in the qualifying round where the distance achieved is 89.34 meters.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 92.97 meters, which broke the previous Olympic record by Andreas Thorkildsen of Denmark in Beijing 2008. Anderson Peters of Grenada took the bronze with an 88.54-meter throw.

Chopra threw a best of 87.86 meters in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium to finish second in last year’s Diamond League final, having been just one centimeter short of claiming a title again.

The remarkable collaboration between Neeraj Chopra and his longtime instructor Klaus Bartonietz, which produced two Olympic medals, two World Championship medals, and an Asian Games gold, ended earlier in November when the 75-year-old German coach announced his retirement.

Chopra’s achievements during his career with the team were quite marvelous and included two gold and silver Olympic medals, two gold and silver World Championship medals, an Asian Games gold, and a Diamond League title. Thereafter, Chopra announced his decision to become a part of the javelin great Jan Zelezny’s coaching setup.
