New Delhi: In a significant step towards strengthening environmental research and promoting sustainable development, the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, inaugurated the ‘Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sodh Peeth’ with tag line “Sankalp se Siddhi- ज्ञानम् अनुसंधानम्, पर्यावरणसंरक्षणम् on June 24, 2026. The newly established Sodh Peeth is aimed at creating a dedicated platform for scientific innovation, interdisciplinary research and development of sustainable solutions to address pressing environmental challenges. Shri Gopal Arya Ji graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, highlighted the university’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility. He said, This is the first peeth in India. “The establishment of the Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sodh Peeth marks a significant milestone in our journey towards academic excellence and societal relevance. Through research-driven solutions and interdisciplinary collaboration, this Peeth will contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation and the achievement of national sustainability goals.”
Shri Gopal Arya Ji, Chief Guest, congratulated the university for launching the initiative and stressed the need for environmental awareness and action. He said, “Protecting nature is not merely a responsibility but a collective duty. Institutions of higher learning must lead the way by developing innovative and sustainable solutions that safeguard our environment for future generations.”
Shri Mahesh Joshi Ji, Guest of Honour, lauded the university’s efforts in creating a dedicated platform for environmental research. In his address, he observed, “Research and innovation are key to addressing the environmental challenges of the twenty-first century. The Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sodh Peeth will play a vital role in generating knowledge, promoting sustainability, and supporting nation-building through scientific excellence.”
Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Patron of the programme, emphasized the importance of integrating scientific research with community engagement. He remarked, “Environmental challenges require collective wisdom and innovative thinking. This Sodh Peeth will serve as a dynamic platform for nurturing young researchers and generating practical solutions that can benefit society at large.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mona Sharma, Chair Professor of the Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sodh Peeth, outlined the vision of the newly established research chair. She stated, “Guided by the principle of ‘ज्ञानम् अनुसंधानम्, पर्यावरणसंरक्षणम्’, the Peeth will promote advanced research in water management, waste valorisation, circular bioeconomy, climate resilience, and sustainable technologies. Our objective is to translate scientific knowledge into impactful environmental solutions.”
The dignitaries collectively expressed confidence that the Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sodh Peeth would emerge as a centre of excellence in environmental research and become a catalyst for sustainable development, innovation, and environmental stewardship. On this occasion Prof. Sunita Srivastava, Prof. Surinder Singh, Prof. Nand Kishore, Prof. Anand Sharma, Prof. Sushila, Dr. Bhupendra Pratap Singh, Prof. Ranjan Aneja, Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, Prof. Ramesh Kumar, Dr. Amita, Dr. Savita, Dr. Archana.
