New Delhi (Business Desk): A young Chinese woman has gone viral on social media for her unusual lifestyle, taking a bold step amid rising inflation and tough living conditions. 18-year-old Yang, who hails from a rural family in China’s Hunan province, has chosen to live in the office toilet as she could not afford the expensive rent of an apartment. Her hard work and struggle has earned her a new identity on social media.

Yang works in a furniture store located in Zhuzhou city, where she gets a salary of Rs 31,776 (2,700 yuan) per month. This amount is much less than the average salary of the city, which is around Rs 88,266 (7,500 yuan). Despite this, the rent for accommodation in the city was very high, ranging from Rs 9,415 (800 yuan) to Rs 21,184 (1,800 yuan), making it impossible for Yang to live in an apartment.

To avoid the heavy burden of rent, Yang approached her boss and offered to live in the six-square-metre office toilet, with a monthly rent of just Rs 588 (50 yuan). The move not only improved her financial situation but also proved how to overcome a difficult situation.

Bathroom routine

Yang regularly updates about her lifestyle on Chinese social media platform Douyin, where she has over 16,000 followers. Her bathroom routine includes washing clothes and drying them on the terrace. However, she ensures that the place is always clean and tidy. During the store’s opening hours, she packs her belongings so that customers and employees don’t have any problem using the toilet.

Yang has embraced this lifestyle and says she has no inconvenience in it. Her goal is to save enough money in the future to buy a house or a car for herself.

Social media reaction

When Yang’s story went viral on social media, users praised her for her difficult circumstances and bold move. One user said, “I can’t criticise someone who is trying their best. I wish the young lady well.” Another user said, “Making the best of your circumstances, very admirable.”Many people were saddened to see Yang’s struggle and commented, “It makes me sad. There should be more equality in the world for people willing to work hard. While many people who refuse to work get a fully funded lifestyle.”

Although Yang’s lifestyle is difficult, she sees it as a struggle and hopes that one day she will be able to create a better life for herself. She is optimistic about her future and believes that after going through this difficult time, she can make her life even better.Yang’s move not only highlights her story of struggle, but also shows that many young people struggling with economic difficulties are trying to give a new shape to their lives with their hard work and hopes.
