Greater Noida (National Desk): Bihar police lathi-charged a group of student protestors on Wednesday night when they were protesting against Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for the cancellation on 70th Prelims Examinations. During the prelims examinations, a paper leak incident was reported at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna on December 13, 2024.
Sharing video footages of the lathi-charge incidents, People from across the country are criticizing the Nitish government for the brutal lathi-charge on students. Bihar’s former deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav wrote on X, “Till a few months ago, the NDA leaders never tired of calling Nitish Kumar mentally unwell and saying that he was suffering from some serious illness, now the same BJP-LJP-HAM leaders are accepting his dictatorial decisions and justifying this hooliganism by getting the #BPSC students beaten up by the police. Nitish Kumar calls himself a self-proclaimed disciple of JP but hates the democratic protest of students. This is the condition of all selfish NDA leaders.”

Supreme Court’s senior advocate Prashant Bhushan asked to Nitish Kumar, “Nitish Babu, is your police beating the unemployed youths sitting peacefully like this?”
Sharing a video, Congress wrote, “Unemployed youth in Bihar were protesting for several days against the rigging in the BPSC exam. Today the Bihar government sent police and lathi-charged the youth. It is seen in the video that the youth are folding their hands, pleading for mercy, but the ruthless police of Bihar continued to follow the orders of the government. This situation is not just of the youth of Bihar, today across the country, youth are forced to face lathi charge for jobs and employment.”

Congress leader Papa Yadav demanded a judicial inquiry in this matter and said, “Whenever lathi charges and bullets are used on the students, Pappu Yadav will fight for them by sacrificing everything.We are with the students’ sentiments at all costs. BPSC exam should be cancelled and re-examination should be conducted.”

However, Patna police said that it was just normal lathi-charge. Sachiwalya SDPO Dr. Anu Kumari SAID, “Some people are protesting at #गर्दनीबाग_धरनास्थल demanding the cancellation of the exam of #बीपीएससी held on 13.12.24. Today, on 25 December, the protest was being carried out by entering the restricted area near the BPSC office at #नेहरू_पथ away from the designated protest site #गर्दनीबाग . Despite repeated requests to go back to the protest site, they did not listen and some people sat on a protest there, who were removed from there by using mild force. An FIR has been filed against those who entered the restricted area, created law and order problems, spread rumours and incited people.”
