Melbourne (Staff Correspondent): Thefts are common, but when a thief is seen dancing in the parking lot before stealing, the matter becomes something different. A thief’s strange behavior has come to light in Sunbury city of Victoria province of Australia, which has now gone viral on social media. The incident took place on April 23 at around 1:10 am, when a thief entered the school parking lot in a silver Holden Commodore car. CCTV footage showed that after getting off the vehicle, the thief kept dancing, jumping and moving around to the music in the parking lot – as if he was at a party.

Dance is over, now theft begins

After his “performance” for a while, the thief crossed the boundary of the school and entered the building. He stole three laptops and an expensive projector from there, the total value of which is estimated to be around 5,000 Australian dollars (about ₹2.75 lakhs).

The entire incident was captured in CCTV cameras installed in the school premises, the clip of which is now going viral. The thief’s gait, dance steps and clothes are clearly visible in the footage.

Police’s funny appeal: “Looking for dancer thief”

Victoria Police issued a light-hearted statement on social media, saying, “Detectives are looking for a person who was probably intoxicated, and was dancing in the parking lot before stealing from a school in Sunbury.”

Police further said that the person has been described as a white male in his 30s, of medium height, with long, dark brown hair. He was wearing a red and black hooded jumper, blue gloves, red headband and black running shoes at the time of the incident.

Appeal to alert citizens for cooperation

The police have appealed to the public that if anyone has any information about this suspect, they should contact Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000) or file an anonymous report on [www.crimestoppersvic.com.au](http://www.crimestoppersvic.com.au).

Strange behaviour, helpful in identification

According to experts, such unusual behaviour of thieves can prove helpful in their identification. This act of the dancing thief has drawn people’s attention to this matter, and now this video is going viral on social media with the name “Dancing Burglar”.

While on the one hand this incident is a matter of concern for the school administration, on the other hand it has also become an example of how unusual behavior during a crime can help in public attention and identification. Now it remains to be seen how long this thief who “steals while dancing” is able to escape the eyes of the police.
