Airfloa becomes the first Indian company to secure an interior design contract of this scale in the history of Indian Railways. As the lead member of a consortium with Italy-based BLUE
Engineering S.r.l., the Company will undertake the interior design of the Vande Bharat sleeper trainset, further strengthening its presence in India’s railway sector.
Contract scope and execution
▪ The ₹34.85 crores contract comprises two key components covering the interior design of the Vande Bharat sleeper trainset and associated development work
Interior Design: Comprehensive interior design of the Vande Bharat sleeper trainset, accounting for ₹30.93 crores of the total contract value
Associated development work: The additional development component specified in the contract, valued at ₹3.93 crores
▪ The entire scope is scheduled to be completed within 12 months from the date of issuance of the Letter of Acceptance
Expanding Airfloa’s role in railway engineering
The contract represents a step forward in Airfloa’s participation in specialised railway projects, extending its engagement into interior design and associated development for a major passenger rail programme. The award reinforces three strategic priorities for the Company:
▪ Building on its established railway interiors, seating and furnishing activities, the assignment expands the scope of work undertaken by Airfloa within the railway sector
▪ The contract strengthens Airfloa’s engagement with Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, and provides an opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities in a technically specialised project
▪ The award aligns with Airfloa’s focus on strengthening its core railway business through technical execution, quality and participation in specialised engineering assignments
