Greater Noida (Business Desk):ACME Solar Holdings through its wholly owned subsidiaries have signed Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPA) with NHPC for a total contracted capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh across two Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. These projects were secured at a tariff of INR 2,10,000/MW/month for 50MW/100MWh and INR 2,22,000/MW/month for 225MW/450MWh through e-reverse auction held on 24th June 2025. The projects are covered under Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme of Government of India wherein Rs 27 lakh per MWh or 30% of the total project cost, whichever is lower is provided as VGF.
Letter of Award (LOA) for these projects were awarded on 8th July, 2025. The quick transition from LOA into signing of the BESPA can be attributed to the prior identification of customer as Andhra Pradesh. As the Standalone BESS installation will be established at the customer site wherein land and evacuation infrastructure will be provided by the customer, it should expedite the execution of these projects. These projects are one-of-its-kind projects being developed in Andhra Pradesh and are expected to be commissioned within 18 months from signing of the BESPA.

These solutions support the grid stability by absorbing power during off-peak hours and release power during peak demand hour in a day. BESS is expected to improve the grid integration of renewable sources like solar and wind, which are inherently variable in nature. These projects mark a significant milestone in the Indian energy sector, introducing a pioneering model where capacity charges are payable under the “BESS as a service” framework. The addition of Standalone BESS helps ACME Solar to leverage on advantages of large scale battery procurement and installation in its portfolio.
