New Delhi (Sports Desk): A double Olympic winner and star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra announced his marriage to Himani Mor on Sunday, posting beautiful photos from the intimate ceremony.

The 27-year-old surprised everyone by sharing the news of his wedding on Sunday, just a few days after getting married.

Bhim, Neeraj’s uncle, told news agency PTI that the couple is currently on a honeymoon after getting married in the nation.

“Yes, the marriage took place in India two days back. I can’t tell the place where it took place,” Bhim told from his village at Khandra near Panipat in Haryana.

“The girl is from Sonipat and she is studying in the US. They have left the country for honeymoon and I am not aware of the places where they are going. We wanted to keep it like that,” said Bhim, who stays with the Olympic double medallist at Khandra.

“It has been a longstanding dream of mine to organise and bring a world-class javelin competition to India. With the help of JSW Sports and the Athletics Federation of India, we are making this happen. I am sure that my fellow athletes and the fans in India will both create an experience that will be spoken about for a long time. I am excited to see how big we can make this,” Chopra was quoted from a release by JSW Sports Media.

Himani Mor is from Sonipat and is currently studying in the USA.

“Started new chapter of my life with my family. Grateful for every blessing that brought us to this moment together,” Neeraj Chopra wrote on his Instagram handle, with his wedding picture.

Later this month, the “golden boy” will embark on an off-season training trip to Potchefstroom, South Africa, to begin early preparation for the games the following year.

With an eye on expanding the meeting to include other track and field sports, Neeraj is eager to establish the event as a yearly staple on the global athletics calendar.
