New Delhi (Nilesh Tiwari): Former cricketer Aakash Chopra questioned the role of Rohit Sharma as India lost against Pat Cummins-led Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the fourth Test on Monday, and their chance of qualifying for the World Test Championship decreased with this loss. They still have a possibility to win that last Test match, however, if they want to keep their chance of WTC Final alive to be played out in Sydney.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who received much criticism after that 184-run loss at MCG. The batting of this Indian side has been absolutely bad for three Tests.

Rohit Sharma is the lowest average of any touring skipper in a Test series. He has scored only 31 runs at 6.20 in this series. Statistically, Rohit has scored only 164 runs at an average of 10 in the last eight Test matches.

“He has taken a call for himself for the first time in his career. He has earlier had calls taken for teams. He was asked to go from middle-order to opener by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. “They wanted Rohit to be fired, so Virat did in Test matches and Dhoni did in ODIs,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Captain Rohit Sharma took a call for the first time, and it was completely in his favor. The team did not gain from it. Rahul was opening very well; hence, it can’t be in the team’s interest.

Shubman Gill played really well as the second-highest run scorer in 2023. He has also batted in tough conditions. In Adelaide, he also looked good. However, he had to leave the team.
