Mumbai (Harshit Yadav), November 11: Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 are here, and a tussle between the primary political parties is promised to be seen. However, Shiv Sena—Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, Congress, and NCP, which are in the MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi), have a strong position. They achieved this edge after a sweeping victory in the previous Lok Sabha elections held earlier in the year. The BJP and Eknath Shinde′s Shiv Sena faction (Mahayuti) are also sure that they will retain the power.
What People Care About.
However, the people’s main concern is that while politicians mainly want power, many of them do not understand the issues that matter most to the public.
Farmer Problems: The truth is that a substantial number of farmers are experiencing financial difficulties, and the insufficient support that the governments and political parties have displayed leads to drifted needs.
Jobs: Not a single party has told the citizens how they plan to solve the massive unemployment problem. Instead, they are offering money to unemployed youth, but is this a solution?
City Problems: In cities like Mumbai, the issues remain the same no matter the political leadership campaigns that it will be different; better roads and a reliable transport network will be provided, but no one talks about them.
People are starting to believe that none of the politicians mean what they say. They demand tangible remedies for their daily issues and problems.
The Political Race.
Is the 2024 assembly election tough or not? The MVA is optimistic about repeating its success in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while Mahayuti is sure about their win because of their public policies. That said, the two sides are also where they have the biggest problem because rebel candidates still intend to run. This, in turn, may cause a division of the votes.
Both opposing parties are actively involved in political campaigns; nevertheless, the matter could become unpredictable as there are rebels and disputes among the parties.
Key Seats to Watch in Maharashtra.
1. Mahim: Family Rivalry.
Mahim is witnessing a pitched battle between Sada Sarvankar of the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, Mahesh Sawant of Shiv Sena (UBT), and Amit Thackeray of MNS. The Thackeray family’s strong ties to this area intensify the battle.
2. Worli: Aaditya Thackeray’s Fight.
Thackeray Junior, coming from Shiv Sena (UBT), fights from his safe seat secure Worli. Due to his youth and popularity, everybody watches him closely to see whether he can overcome his competitors and maintain his leadership position.
3. Solapur South: Rebel Candidates.
In the Solapur South area, Subhash Deshmukh (BJP), Amar Patil (Shiv Sena – UBT), and Dharmaraj Kadadi (Independent) vying against each other are stuck in a triangular battle. Kadadi’s revolt furthers this competition’s intricacies.
4. Nandgaon: A Family Feud.
To Chhagan Bhujbal’s senior NCP leader nephew, Sameer Bhujbal, the candidate who is competing as an independent against him is Suhas Kande from the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena and Ganesh Dhatrak from the UBT. His self-governing participation in the whole process is the source of the disruption.
5. Mira Bhayander: An Independent Challenge
Mira Bhayander is suffering a three-party contention, with Geeta Jain, who was split off from BJP, as a challenger along with BJP’s Narendra Mehta and Congress’ Mujaffar Hussain.
6. Kolhapur North: Congress’s Dilemma.
After its candidate Madhurimaraje Chhatrapati resigned, Congress followed the decision to support independent candidate Rajesh Latkar. This makes the result in North Kolhapur unpredictable.
What Will Happen?
The forthcoming 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Elections are a time of both excitement and anxiety that has enveloped the state. Though the BJP-led Mahayuti also claims that they are well on course to claim the government and thereby create a new MVA-free landscape, there are serious issues within their coalition as well.
One thing for sure is that voters have become more alert with wide-open eyes. However, if politicians fail to discuss the most significant issues that impact people’s lives daily, election results may be unexpected. Voters have made it clear that they need real solutions, not empty promises, so the winning party will have an obligation to solve the most important issues.
