Former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar stated that India’s captain Rohit Sharma should emulate MS Dhoni’s ability to read the game and adjust bowling combinations, especially after New Zealand’s strong performance in the Bengaluru Test on October 18. India had some initial success in their quest for a strong start.
Tim Southee’s impressive 65 and Rachin Ravindra’s century ensured that New Zealand held a 356-run lead going into the second innings. Although India took four wickets in the opening session, Southee and Ravindra wreaked havoc in the latter part, accumulating 58 runs in the final four overs. Southee eventually fell after his 65, but Rachin continued to advance the score, helping the visitors reach a total of 402.
Manjrekar’s recommendations for Rohit. –
Manjrekar commented on X that Dhoni had a unique ability to adjust his bowling strategy before situations spiraled out of control. He advised that Rohit should incorporate this skill into his own approach
“Dhoni had this very unique ability to preempt & make a bowling change before the damage went out of control. Rohit needs to bring that quality into his leadership,” Manjrekar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
