Speaking to the reporters in Bengaluru, Rohit Sharma said that he didn’t want to bring Shami to Australia for the Test series even if he was fit. The reason behind this decision was the fact that Shami was ‘undercooked’, having not played cricket for a long time.

Rohit Sharma said, “It’s difficult to make a call on him for the Australia series. We don’t want to bring an undercooked Shami.” The team is keenly holding onto expectations of full recovery before determining his participation in the upcoming series. Sharma stated, “To be honest, it’s pretty difficult for us to make a call on him… He had a setback and had to start again,” emphasizing the need for Shami to be fully fit before considering him for the tour.

Rohit also said that he even thought of Mayank Yadav and Nitish Rana for the Test squad, and himself made a point that this series against Australia requires quality bowling.

“I understand they haven’t had much playing time, but our aim is to strengthen our bench. If we decide to fast-track a player, we will,” Rohit Sharma stated ahead of the first Test at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Rohit sharma comments on rumors of missing first Test at parth-

Indian captain Rohit Sharma dismissed speculation he might miss the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, quelling claims that, in his absence, his team could be led by pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. However, while Bumrah would not replace him as the captain, according to Rohit, personal reasons had been the talk of the issue based on which he might miss the Perth Test.

Rohit Sharma praises Bumrah leadership-

Although he hasn’t captained much—just one Test and a few T20s—he comprehends what’s needed in critical moments. When leadership is required, I believe Bumrah will rise to the occasion”
