New Delhi: V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has successfully implemented an innovative loading methodology for a UHL vessel by extending the vessel’s deck with additional support beams, significantly enhancing its cargo-carrying capacity for wind energy equipment.
The new loading arrangement enabled the safe loading of 57 windmill blades, each measuring 81 metres in length. This marks a substantial increase from the 45 blades that UHL vessels have typically carried from the port over the past four years.
VOC Port informed on social media website X, “By stacking the blades up to five tiers high, the solution maximizes vessel capacity, enhances operational efficiency, and demonstrates VOCPA’s commitment to innovative cargo handling and optimized utilization of vessel space.”
