Mangalore: Mukka Proteins Limited (“the Company”) announces a significant milestone in the development of its Black Soldier Fly (BSF)–based municipal wet‑waste processinginitiative in Bengaluru. The Company’s BSF‑driven 300 TPD wet‑waste processing operations—currently active under its empanelment with Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited—have now been formally listed on the Verra Registry under Project ID 5893, enabling the project to progress toward Verified Carbon Unit (VCU) issuance under the Verra Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)
program.

Carbon Credit Registration Progress

With the Verra listing completed, the project has entered the mandatory 30‑day public comment period, the next formal step in Verra’s carbon credit registration workflow. Following this stage, the accredited validation and verification body will conduct its on‑site assessment and prepare the final validation report, completing the VCS registration cycle. At present, VCU eligibility applies specifically to the 300 TPD operational BSF facility, for which performance monitoring and validation activities are underway in accordance with methodology ACM0022 and Verra’s VCS requirements.

Capacity Expansion & Future Carbon Credit Potential

Since the Company’s empanelment and approval to process 200–300 TPD (as announced in August 2025), Mukka Proteins has now received incremental approval to expand capacity up to 1,000 TPD within Bengaluru’s integrated waste‑management framework. The project is structured as a grouped project under the VCS program, allowing phased inclusion of additional processing modules. As each phase of the expanded capacity is brought into operation and validated, additional carbon credits will be generated and registered in line with Verra’s validation and verification requirements. This phased structure ensures that while the current 300 TPD operations advance toward carbon credit issuance, future capacity additions—up to 1,000 TPD—will support progressively larger VCU generation, strengthening long‑term sustainability and revenue‑diversification potential.

Kalandan Mohammed Haris, CEO & MD, Mukka Proteins Limited, said, “The listing of our Bengaluru BSF project on the Verra Registry marks a key advancement in our carbon credit roadmap.

While carbon certification is underway for the ongoing 300 TPD operations, our newly approved pathway to scale up to 1,000 TPD positions us to expand this platform significantly over the coming phases. This milestone reinforces our commitment to circular‑economy solutions, climate‑positive waste management, and long‑term value creation through sustainable diversification.”
