Greater Noida (Educatinal Desk):The All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, is set to host Shalyacon 2025, a three-day national seminar from 13th to 15th July 2025 to mark the occasion of Sushruta Jayanti. Celebrated every year on 15th July, Sushruta Jayanti honors Acharya Sushruta, regarded as the Father of Surgery for his foundational contributions to the field of surgery in Ayurveda.
Organized by the Department of Shalya Tantra under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Shalyacon 2025 is being conducted in collaboration with the National Sushruta Association as part of its 25th Annual Conference. This prestigious academic event aims to highlight innovations in Ayurvedic surgical practice and strengthen integration with modern medical techniques.
The inaugural ceremony, scheduled for 14th July 2025, will witness the presence of Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests of honour include Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush; Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor, NIA Jaipur; and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director, ITRA Jamnagar.
“Since its establishment, AIIA has remained dedicated to promoting Ayurveda worldwide. Shalyacon reflects this commitment by fostering the integration of Ayurvedic principles with modern surgical advancements,” said Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director (I/C), AIIA.
The seminar will feature live surgical demonstrations on 13th and 14th July, including general surgeries, anorectal surgeries, and urosurgical cases. The first day will showcase ten general endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, while the second day will highlight sixteen live anorectal surgeries.
With the theme “Innovation, Integration, and Inspiration,” Shalyacon 2025 is expected to attract over 500 delegates, including surgeons, scholars, researchers, and academicians from India and abroad. The event aims to facilitate idea exchange, showcase clinical advancements, and explore trends in Ayurvedic surgical practice.
A special plenary session over the three days will focus on key topics such as General and Laparoscopic Surgery ,Wound Management & Para-surgical Techniques,Anorectal Surgery,Asthi-Sandhi Marma Chikitsa,Innovations in Surgery
The final day will feature over 200 oral and poster presentations, further enriching the academic experience. Alongside the clinical sessions, a Scientific Session will offer a platform for researchers and clinicians to present their findings, followed by a cultural programme to celebrate India’s rich tradition and heritage.
Shalyacon 2025 promises to be a significant step in empowering emerging Ayurvedic surgeons and enhancing the global visibility of India’s ancient yet evolving medical knowledge.
