Greater Noida (World Desk): A couple from China took a step away from traditions, which not only touched the hearts of people but also garnered a lot of praise on social media. The couple got married not in a luxurious hotel or banquet hall, but in a dog shelter. About 200 rescued dogs and more than 300 volunteers attended the ceremony. At the center of this inspirational story is 31-year-old Yang, who is from Tianjin city in northern China. He was once the owner of a successful construction company, whose net worth was more than 1.4 million US dollars. But the lockdown imposed during the Kovid-19 epidemic completely changed his financial situation. Business came to a standstill and Yang had to sell his house, vehicles and all other possessions to repay his debts and pay employees.
Childhood suffering changed the direction of life
Yang’s love for dogs is not new. In childhood, he lost five puppies due to illness. This sad experience left a wound in his heart, which later inspired him to a dog rescue mission. When he started the shelter, he had only 23 yuan (about Rs 260) in his pocket.
But he did not give up. He asked people for help and gradually built a team of volunteers.
Love was also found in the shelter
Zhao, who joined the shelter as a volunteer in 2022, later became Yang’s life partner. Zhao was a university student at the time. She showed deep sympathy for the dogs and donated all the earnings from her part-time job for dog food. The two got to know each other and came closer while working together.
Special ‘guests’ at the wedding
When it came to marriage, Yang made it clear that he wanted to do the ceremony in the presence of dogs, who are like family to him. Zhao also agreed to this emotional proposal. Eventually, the wedding took place in a shelter – where the dogs were also enthusiastic guests along with the bride and groom.
Appreciation pours in from the internet
When the wedding photos and videos went viral on social media, reactions poured in from across the world. “The dogs must be so thrilled and happy! Bless the couple for this wonderful idea,” wrote one user. “They must be blessed by those voiceless angels. Their love and kindness will keep them happy forever,” said another. Another user jokingly wrote, “This is the only wedding invitation I would never want to turn down.”
This story is not just about a unique wedding, but also about compassion, dedication and human kindness. Yang and Zhao proved that true love is not just limited to humans, but also extends to the voiceless creatures who often go unnoticed.
Their wedding was not just a ceremony, but a celebration of animal welfare and love – and that is what makes it special.
