Greater Noida (Sports Desk): India’s Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has notified coach Omkar Salvi and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will be ready for the team’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23 in Mumbai. With a century and a half, Jaiswal was a highlight in an otherwise unmemorable Australian trip.

“He has informed Mumbai coach Omkar Salvi that he is available for the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The selection committee will pick the Mumbai team in the coming days,” a MCA official said.

Mumbai will play a star-studded lineup that includes Ajinkya Rahane if Rohit Sharma is available for selection after training with the team on Tuesday.

The T20 team for the five-match series against England, which starts on January 22, does not include Jaiswal. On Wednesday, Jaiswal is scheduled to participate in the Mumbai team’s practice at Wankhede Stadium.

Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Mumbai for the Ranji Trophy, was spotted batting with Rohit. In 2015, Rohit made his final appearance for Mumbai against Uttar Pradesh. If Rohit would be available for selection in the match against Jammu & Kashmir, he has not yet confirmed.

The BCCI warned elite cricket players, including centrally contracted and India A players, in a letter sent in February of last year that there would be “severe implications” if they did not play domestic cricket.

“Domestic cricket forms the backbone of Indian cricket and serves as the feeder line to Team India,” said Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary at the time, in the letter. Rohit has been under fire after scoring 35 runs in 5 innings while playing in Australia. Due to his poor form, he also opted out of the last Test match in Sydney.
