Mumbai: Torrent Group announces its entry into healthcare services with the launch of Torrent Diagnostics. Operations commenced with the start of India’s largest National Reference Laboratory in Navi Mumbai, marking the Group’s expansion into diagnostics services through a reference-led model that places scientific governance and high-complexity testing at the centre of the organisation.
The National Reference Laboratory, spans over 100,000 square feet and supports 15 diagnostic disciplines and more than 3,500 test modalities covering preventive, routine and specialised testing. Testing services include molecular diagnostics, genomics, digital pathology, microbiology, immunology, transplant-related testing and infectious disease workflows. The laboratory offers one of the most extensive test menus in the country, supported by advanced capabilities such as Next Generation Sequencing, MALDI-TOF, BSL-3 containment and the first Transmission Electron Microscope in a standalone diagnostics lab in Western India. The National Reference Laboratory is staffed by a highly skilled and experienced scientific and technical team, with domain leadership across disciplines to ensure rigour, compliance and continuous quality assurance.

Torrent Diagnostics will focus on delivering an elevated patient experience. High quality patient centres, trained and certified phlebotomists, patient-friendly reporting formats and an user friendly digital experience through a customer app and website would facilitate a superior customer experience.
Varun Mehta, Director of Torrent Group, said “Diagnostics is a discipline where trust is built through process integrity, scientific depth and consistency over time. As Torrent enters the diagnostics space, we have approached this business with a long-term perspective, starting with a strong scientific foundation. Anchoring the organisation around a national reference laboratory allows us to offer one of the widest test menus in the industry as well as define strong governance structures, validation frameworks and quality standards. As the organisation grows, this reference-led approach ensures that scale is achieved without dilution of standards, trust or clinical relevance and we look forward to delivering the highest levels of quality and service to our customers.”
Torrent Diagnostics reflects the broader purpose of Torrent Group to contribute to healthier and better-informed communities through services rooted in integrity and long-term societal commitment.
