Greater Noida (Staff Correspondent): An Indian software engineer living in Sweden shared information about the best employee benefits available in the companies there on social media, which went viral in no time. This video posted on Instagram not only surprised people but also filled many netizens of India with jealousy.

This Indian developer named Ashutosh gave a glimpse of Sweden’s corporate culture and the facilities available there, after seeing which many people have started looking at this country as their “dream job destination”.

According to Ashutosh, a full-time employee in Sweden gets 30 days of paid leave every year, which is much more than countries like India. Not only this, if there is a public holiday, then the employees are given half a day off on the day before that – so that they can prepare for the holiday comfortably.

iPhone and laptop are available in the onboarding kit

Sweden’s tech companies are also not behind in welcoming new employees. Ashutosh told that as soon as you join there, you get a new iPhone and the latest laptop as an onboarding kit. This gives the employees a professional setup even before starting work.

Wellness allowances and gym facilities

In Sweden, the physical and mental health of the employees is also taken care of. Companies give an annual allowance of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 for gym membership, massage therapy and other health services. Apart from this, employees working from home are also provided a home-office setup allowance of up to Rs 50,000.

Lunch, car and parental leave – everything included

Employees working in Sweden also get a lunch allowance of up to Rs 10,000 every month. Along with this, companies also provide car rental facility at discounted rates. At the same time, parents get paid parental leave of up to 480 days, in which 80% salary is given by the government. Even if a person loses his job, there is nothing to worry about. Under Sweden’s strong union system, employees get financial support for nine months so that they can look for a new job without stress.

No need to ‘request’ for leave

What was most surprising was that in Sweden, leave is considered a “right” of the employees, not a “favor”. Ashutosh said that there is no need to take special permission from anyone for leave there.

Reactions poured in on the internet, similar policies wanted in India too

Ashutosh’s post got a tremendous response on social media. Many people called it a “dream job”, while some expressed the desire for similar employee-friendly policies in India too. One user wrote, “Our dream job.” Another quipped, “Taking leave here is not a right, it is a fight – convince the manager first!” Another user commented, “Very happy for you.”   This employee-friendly work culture of Sweden has once again proved that if employees are given respect, facilities and work-life balance, they can perform better. This is an inspiration for professionals across the world, including India – that a better workplace is possible.
