New Delhi (Staff Correspondent): IndiGo flight 6E2142 going from Delhi to Srinagar was hit by a severe storm on Wednesday. Lightning in the sky and heavy hailstorm terrified the passengers. The plane started shaking in the air so much that the passengers started screaming and crying. In the video that went viral on social media, it can be clearly seen and heard how there was an atmosphere of panic among the passengers, children were crying and adults were remembering God.
The incident happened when the plane was near the Kashmir Valley. Suddenly the weather took a turn and the plane came under the grip of heavy hailstorm. Due to this, a small part of the front part of the plane was damaged. However, due to the alertness and experience of the pilot, the plane was safely landed at Srinagar Airport.

Rescue after “Mayday Call”
According to officials, seeing the sudden deteriorating weather conditions, the pilot gave a “Mayday Call” i.e. emergency information to Srinagar Air Traffic Control. After this, the air traffic control made special arrangements, due to which the plane was landed safely at 6:30 pm. There were a total of 227 passengers on the plane.
Passengers shared their horrifying experience
The passengers on the flight said that at that time the plane was flying very high and suddenly its speed and direction started changing. A passenger said, “It seemed as if the plane had collided with something heavy. The children were crying loudly and we were all praying to God to land safely on the ground.”

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, in which it can be clearly seen that there was a tense atmosphere inside the plane. Lightning was flashing in the sky and the plane was shaking rapidly. This video has forced many people to think twice before flying.

Airline statement
An official statement from IndiGo Airlines said, “We give top priority to the safety of all our passengers. Flight 6E2142 encountered unforeseen circumstances due to weather, in which the aircraft suffered minor external damage. There were no injuries to the passengers and crew members, and everyone was safely evacuated.”
This incident once again proved that the uncertainty of weather is one of the biggest risks of air travel. Although a major accident was averted due to the pilot’s presence of mind and the cooperation of air traffic control, this experience will be remembered for a long time in the minds of the passengers. The airlines are now engaged in the investigation and repair of the aircraft.
