SJVN signs Power Sale and Power Purchase Agreements with UPPCL and NDMC

Shimla (Staff Correspondent): SJVN has signed a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for supply of power from its 900 MW Arun-III Hydro Electric Project. Concurrently, a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was also signed with UPPCL for supply of power from its upcoming 210 MW Luhri Stage-I and 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Projects.

The agreements were signed in august presence of Sh. Bhupender Gupta Chairman & Managing Director (Addl. Charge) and Sh. Sushil Sharma Director (Projects) at SJVN Liaison Office, New Delhi.

On this occasion, Sh. Bhupender Gupta, CMD (Addl. Charge) said that these agreements mark significant step towards realizing SJVN’s commitment to clean energy transition and strengthening power infrastructure for urban consumers.

The PSA was signed by Sh. R.K. Gupta Chief General Manager (Power Trading), SJVN and Sh. Deepak Raizada Director (Corporate Planning), UPPCL and the PPA was signed by Sh. Ashok Kumar, General Manager (C&SO), SJVN and Sh. Deepak Raizada, Director (Corporate Planning), UPPCL.

The 900 MW Arun-III Hydro Electric Project is being developed by SJVN in Sankhuwasabha District of Nepal through its fully owned subsidiary SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company Pvt. Ltd. (SAPDC). On commissioning the Project will generate 900 MW of clean energy and is expected to play a vital role in meeting the nation’s growing power demand. The project is expected to be commissioned by FY 2027-28.

The 210 MW Luhri Stage-I HEP and 382 MW Sunni Dam HEP, under construction on river Satluj in Himachal Pradesh are poised to play a crucial role in meeting the country’s growing energy demand through sustainable and environment-friendly means. Together, these projects will add 592 MW of green energy to the National Grid. These Hydro Electric will generate 2140 MU of electricity annually. Both projects are expected to be commissioned by December 2028.

In addition to this, SJVN also signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for supply of power from its 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project at NDMC Headquarters New Delhi. The PPA was signed by Sh. Ashok Kumar, General Manager (C&SO), SJVN and Sh Brajesh Kumar Yadav, Superintending Engineer (Electrical), NDMC.
