Greater Noida (National Desk): When colleagues leave the tedious desk-to-desk routine of the office and get into the holiday mood, they definitely feel like doing something different. Recently, a video of one such unique team outing has gone viral on social media, in which an office team converted a train compartment into a moving movie theater.
The company posted this video on its official Instagramaccount, which has been viewed more than 1.8 crore times so far. In the video, a team of about 30 employees can be seen watching a film on a projector and eating popcorn in the train cabin – and that too with a white sheet as a screen!
In the video, a group of male employees is seen hanging a white sheet on the chains of the upper side-berth. After this, as soon as the sheet falls down, it becomes a projection screen. Then the team turns on the projector and the ‘rail movie show’ begins, with popcorn and fun.
The company wrote in the caption that the journey was towards Goa and they had pre-booked all the adjacent seats so that no passenger would be inconvenienced. The team politely requested the other passengers to change seats.
20 minutes of ‘rail cinema’
The projector was used only for 20 minutes as the train did not have a stable Wi-Fi network. A small speaker was used for audio, whose sound was limited only to those sitting nearby. The team claims that due to the general noise of the train, no sound went far and no passenger complained.
The company also said in its post, “We tried our best to enjoy the journey within the limits of civic spirit and public discipline.”
Mixed reactions on social media
This video has sparked a debate on social media. While some called it a creative and fun experience, others called it an example of indiscipline in a public place. A glimpse of the reactions:
– “Theatre 8/10, movie 11/10”, one user jokingly wrote.
– “This should be done only in private coaches like 1AC,” came a suggestion.
– “Isn’t this a violation of railway rules?” a concerned user asked.
– “People who are now talking about civic sense are the same people who watch reels on loud volume in buses,” quippedanother.
The viral video has raised the question of whether a balance between “creative fun” and “discipline” is possible in public places? Was this experiment done with the consent of passengers for quiet entertainment, or a potential public nuisance? Whatever it is, it is certain that the video has become the centre of interest on the Internet – and perhaps some office teams may now add “rail theatre” to their next travel plans!
