NTPC gets Bihar government nod to conduct feasibility study for Rs 25,000-30,000 crore nuclear project in Banka

New Delhi: The Government of Bihar has given its approval to the Centre-backed NTPC to conduct a feasibility study in the state’s Banka district for a 1400 megawatt nuclear project.

Highly placed sources said, recently a team of NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh met senior officials of the Bihar Energy Department and discussed his company’s keenness to invest in the state’s to set up nuclear sites.

The state government has given approval and asked NTPC to conduct feasibility study for the project which has potential to attract at least Rs 25,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore.

The study will be conducted in Banka where as initial estimation water and land availability doesn’t looks a challenge for NTPC for the future project.

Apart from Bihar, NTPC is eyeing for setting up 30 gigawatts of nuclear capacity across 14 states of India by 2047.
