New Delhi: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, highlighted its robust operational achievements for FY 26, underscoring its pivotal role in strengthening India’s energy security, and accelerating clean energy transition.

Continuing with its commitment to powering India’s growth, NTPC generated 432.2 Billion Units of electricity during FY26, ensuring reliable and efficient supply of electricity. Recording its highest-ever capacity addition in a single year, the company added 9,619 MW in FY26 that strengthens India’s energy backbone across conventional and renewable sources.

Further strengthening its RE footprints, NTPC added 5,488 MW of renewable capacity in FY26 across solar, wind, and Pumped Storage Projects (PSP), accelerating its journey towards building a greener and more sustainable energy future for India.

In FY26, NTPC achieved a coal production of 48.65 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT), registering a steady 6.22% year-on-year (YoY) growth. This performance continues to bolster India’s energy security through reliable and efficient mining operations.

Meanwhile, the company also recorded a strong growth in power trading, with 46.52 Billion Units (BU) traded in FY26, marking a robust 13% YoY growth. This expansion further strengthens power accessibility across the nation.

During the period, NTPC achieved 105% ash utilisation, utilising 109 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of ash. This outstanding performance reinforces NTPC’s leadership in sustainable practices and circular resource management.

As part of its diversified portfolio, NTPC currently operates more than 89 GW of installed capacity, with another 32 GW under construction. The company has set a target to reach 149 GW of total capacity by 2032, including 60 GW from renewable energy sources. This includes a balanced mix of thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants, ensuring supply of reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity to the country.

Along with power generation, NTPC has ventured into various new business areas, including e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions.
