Greater Noida(National Desk):The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against a key accused in a major ISIS-linked radicalisation and conspiracy case in Tamil Nadu. The chargesheet, filed before the NIA Special Court in Poonamallee (TN), marks a significant development in the ongoing probe into extremist activities in the region.
The accused, A. Alfasith, a resident of Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, has been charged under Sections 153A and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Sections 13 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P) Act].
According to the NIA, Alfasith was deeply involved with radical Islamist groups and staunch ISIS supporters, including Mohammed Ashik and Sathik Batcha—both already implicated in several terror-related cases in Tamil Nadu. The investigation revealed that Alfasith and his associates used social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram to spread ISIS propaganda and radicalise young Muslim boys.

The group reportedly formed channels named “Islamic State” and “Black Flag Soldiers” to circulate ISIS-related videos, documents, and images aimed at inciting communal hatred and threatening national security. The NIA stated that their goal was to promote ISIS ideology and lure vulnerable youth into extremist activities.

Further findings suggest that Alfasith was actively following ISIS’s global operations and was downloading incriminating content from a Telegram channel operated by ISIS, named ‘nashida33’ (“Al Wala Val Baro”).
The NIA continues its investigation to uncover the broader conspiracy behind this case, registered as RC-03/2024/NIA/CHE.
