Greater Noida(National Desk):The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from Dispur Last Gate in Guwahati, Assam. The explosive, allegedly planted by the banned ULFA(I) terror group, was part of a larger conspiracy to trigger multiple blasts in the state on Independence Day 2024.
The two accused, Bhargob Gogoi and Sumu Gogoi, both residents of Assam’s Dibrugarh district, are believed to have played a direct role in the terror plot. According to the NIA, they were actively involved in planning and executing the conspiracy aimed at disturbing national security and sovereignty.

With these arrests, the total number of accused apprehended in the case (RC-03/2024/NIA-GUW) has now risen to three. The NIA had taken over the investigation from Dispur police in September 2024. Just last month, the agency filed a chargesheet against three individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A], and the Explosives Substances Act.
Officials confirmed that investigations into the case are still ongoing.
