Greater Noida: Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Puran Kumar, who spoke out against caste discrimination and poor administration, was found dead. He was allegedly harassed and discriminated on the basis of caste.
Indian Revenue service 2016 batch officer Dr. Abhinav Ujjainia wrote and informed on X, “It seems caste discrimination is rampant, open, uncontrolled, highly humiliating and is done in every possible manner one can think of… If an IPS officer is facing caste discrimination while being in the echelons of bureaucracy, What will happen to the common man ? I firmly stand by the family and colleagues of the deceased and condemn the practice of discrimination in any form.”

Puran Kumar claimed his batch was ignored because they were SC. He filed 5 complaints of harassment and humiliation against a senior IAS officer within two months. He objected to a probe panel with no SC member and said his posting as IGP Home Guards, a non-cadre post, was meant to insult and humiliate him in public.
