Greater Noida (Defence Desk): The Indian Navy today successfully destroyed a hidden target at sea in another great demonstration of its defense capabilities. This mission was accomplished by the Indian Navy’s latest indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Surat, which was carried out under “Precise Cooperative Engagement”. “Precise cooperative engagement” implies that various units of the battle group share sensor data with each other in real time. This makes it possible to accurately identify the target and its quick destruction. This technology has greatly increased the collective fighting power of the Navy.
The move comes after the Pahalgam attack
This naval show of strength comes at a time when 25 Indian nationals and a Nepali tourist were killed in a brutal attack by Pakistan-linked terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, two days ago. Against this backdrop, the Navy’s action is being seen as a strong message.
History reminisced: Contribution of ‘Killer Squadron’
The Indian Navy has played a key role in the country’s security in the past as well. In the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the Navy enforced a naval blockade to sever connectivity between East and West Pakistan. At that time, the 25th Missile Boat Squadron, also known as the ‘Killer Squadron’, carried out a deadly attack on the Karachi port. The squadron comprised Petya-class ships – Katchal and Kiltan – besides three missile boats – INS Nirghat, Nipat, and Veer, fitted with four Russian Styx missiles.

India’s tough response: Pakistani visas cancelled
The Indian government has taken a tough stand against Pakistan following the attack. The government has announced that all Pakistani visas will be cancelled from Sunday. Till now this ban was applicable only to Pakistanis staying on SAARC visa, but now it will be effective on all Pakistani citizens. They have been ordered to leave India within 72 hours. Medical visas have been kept valid till April 29, but after that they will also be considered cancelled. The government has advised Indian citizens to avoid travelling to Pakistan and has directed Indians living in Pakistan to return home immediately.
This latest action of the Indian Navy is not only a technological achievement but also a symbol of India’s tough stand on terrorism and national security. This step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat is proud and clearly indicates the growing strength of the Indian Armed Forces.
