The BCCI is yet to announce the roster of Team India despite the Champions Trophy 2025 event drawing closer. Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar will host a news conference after the selection of the Indian team for the Champions Trophy, which is to take place on January 17 in Mumbai.
It was earlier reported that India’s Champions Trophy team would be announced by January 12. The BCCI has scheduled a meeting on January 18 to take a final decision on India’s Champions Trophy 2025 list, according to Vice-President Rajeev Shukla in an exclusive interview with Sports Tak.
The BCCI had announced the Indian T20I team for the England series that is to begin from January 22. There has been no information released regarding India’s three-match ODI series against England. The news conference will most likely confirm India’s team for the 2025 Champions Trophy apart from announcing the ODI series against England.
They will start their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with Bangladesh in Dubai on February 19. On February 23, they would play the country they have been having major issues with, their arch rivals, Pakistan, in a last-over thriller. Then on March 2, they play New Zealand.
According to sources, Rohit Sharma would be missing out on the picture session of the captains in Pakistan, which would take place prior to the Champions Trophy. The PCB is busy fine-tuning its arrangements for the opening ceremony for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The date of the ceremony is scheduled for February 16 or 17. As per the rules of ICC, all the competing team captains have to attend the opening ceremony.
Rohit was once rumored to head to Pakistan for the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the picture session with the captains. All is good now, and the Hitman is not heading to Pakistan at any cost.
