New Delhi: Genesys International Corporation has announced that its Digital Twin Map platform implementation for Varanasi has been honoured with the prestigious GovConnect Award, marking a significant milestone in India’s urban governance innovation. The recognition highlights the transformative impact of spatial intelligence in improving governance efficiency, infrastructure development, disaster preparedness, and citizen service delivery.
The Varanasi Digital Twin is powered by the Genesys New India Map Stack, which integrates high-precision 3D mapping at 5-cm accuracy, LiDAR-based mapping, live sensor feeds, navigation base maps, and temporal datasets. Over 2,500 CCTV cameras across the city have been connected to the system, strengthening crowd management during pilgrimage seasons and cultural congregations. Given Varanasi’s location along the Ganga plains, the platform also supports flood-prone zone detection, disaster modelling, and predictive simulations, enabling resilient systems planning.
Himanshu Nagpal, Municipal Commissioner of Varanasi, stated that the execution of the digital twin map platform heralds a new standard of e-governance using spatial intelligence, adding that every city and urban body requires such a system. Mr. Sajid Malik, Chairman and Managing Director of Genesys, emphasized that the award underscores India’s growing capabilities in world-class mapping technology. He noted that Genesys is the only Indian company offering a complete map stack—from geometric twins to predictive twins that combine live and temporal data—and highlighted how spatial intelligence can act as a governance multiplier.
The platform is also accelerating the monitoring and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects in Varanasi, a city globally renowned for its cultural heritage and ancient urban fabric. This achievement reinforces India’s leadership in digital twin technology, with Genesys’ solutions witnessing increasing adoption across urban governance bodies, mobility ecosystems, infrastructure agencies, and location intelligence applications.
