California (World Desk):  Spending a beautiful morning with family in the magical world of Disneyland is the dream of many, but when an American man saw a bill of Rs 80,000 (about $937) after participating in the “Princess Breakfast Adventures”, he was shocked. He shared this experience on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), due to which the post quickly went viral and started sharp reactions on the Internet.

User John Tolkien had this fancy breakfast with his family at the Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland. When he later saw the bill, it showed an amount of $937.65 (about ₹80,000), which also included a tip of $150. She posted a picture of the receipt with the caption, “Princess Breakfast at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee.”

Further in the thread, she revealed that the breakfast was for five people, and she hadn’t seen the price of $142 per person before booking. She admitted that she thought the total bill would be about half that.

What do you get in ‘Princess Breakfast Adventures’?

“Princess Breakfast Adventures” is one of Disney’s premium experiences. It includes:

– Three-course meal

– Appetizer tower of lobster rolls, various breads

– Special main course options for adults

– Mickey waffle, macaroni and cheese for kids

– Trained Disney princesses who spend time with the kids, take photos and interact

According to Disney’s website, the starting price for this experience is $142 per person, excluding taxes and tips.

“Food was ok, experience was good” – Mr Tolkien’s honest review

Tolkien gave a balanced response to his experience. He said, “It was fun. The food was probably 7/10. The service was enthusiastic and attentive. The princesses were very professional and treated the kids wonderfully.” He also shared a picture of his plate and said that the kids loved it, so he felt the expense was justified. However, he added jokingly, “The kids must have learned some new words as soon as they opened the bill.”

Social media reaction – “Shouldn’t have been a surprise”

The post received mixed reactions from netizens. Many users said that Disney clearly shows the prices at the time of booking, so no one should be surprised. One user wrote, “The cost per guest is very clearly mentioned at the Grand Californian. If someone didn’t see it, it’s their fault.” At the same time, some users questioned the $150 tip. “The service may be good, but the tip should be proportionate to the bill. A $150 tip was not necessary.” Premium experiences at prestigious and expensive entertainment venues such as Disneyland often come with higher prices. But when price and expectations differ, debate is inevitable.

Mr Tolkin’s experience is an example of how sometimes a memorable experience can cost a lot of money – and social media doesn’t ignore that.
