Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, has taken stringent action against irregularities in its LPG distribution network, suspending four LPG distributors for alleged malpractices and initiating disciplinary proceedings against several others.
Reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards violations, BPCL has already taken disciplinary action against 162 LPG distributors, while proceedings against an additional 316 distributors are currently underway.
In a statement, the Company reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and consumer protection across its LPG supply chain. BPCL emphasised that any practice compromising customer interest, service integrity, or regulatory compliance will invite strict and timely action.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is closely overseeing the situation and is coordinating with States and Union Territories to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure proactive communication, thereby preventing any misinformation related to the availability and pricing of petroleum products, including LPG. The Ministry has also underlined the importance of continued strict enforcement against malpractices across the distribution ecosystem.
BPCL reaffirmed that safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining a reliable, transparent distribution network remain its top priorities. The Company continues to closely monitor its distributor network and will take firm disciplinary action wherever violations of established norms and guidelines are identified.
