New Delhi: BMW Industries has announced an investment of Rs 803 crore to set up a 0.5 million tonne cold rolling facility in Jharkhand, aimed at expanding its portfolio of high-end, Made-in-India steel products for the automobile and infrastructure sectors.
Managing Director Harsh Bansal said the investment is being made under the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Specialty Coated Steel. The scheme, launched by the Ministry of Steel in 2021 with an outlay of Rs 6,322 crore, seeks to boost domestic manufacturing of value-added steel grades and help the industry move up the technology and value chain.
