Washington. A US couple is being trolled on social media for their budget wedding. The couple ditched traditional wedding attire and opted for a simple and affordable wedding in jeans and plaid shirts, which has now become a topic of discussion on the internet. Amy Baron, 22, and Hunter, 24, held their wedding in January at a public library in West Virginia. The wedding was attended by around 20 guests, and the bride and groom decided to spend around $1,000 in total.

Wedding expenses and simplicity

The couple made several affordable choices to keep their wedding simple and budget-friendly. They spent $300 on new cowboy boots and hired a photographer for $480. Apart from this, bride Amy did her own hair and makeup and also arranged for the music and food herself. They planned to celebrate the wedding as a simple and sweet moment, and described the day as the best day of their lives.

Viral video and trolling on social media

After the wedding, Amy posted a wedding video on social media, in which the bride and groom were dressed in jeans and black and white flannel shirts. In the caption of the video, Amy wrote, “It’s been almost a week since I married my best friend and I can’t stop watching our wedding over and over again.” In the video, the couple shared their wedding experience and how they made several decisions away from traditional wedding rituals to save money. However, as soon as the video went viral, many users on social media started criticizing the wedding. One user commented, “So what, it was just another normal day. There was nothing special about it.” Another user said, “This looks quite disappointing.” Social media was flooded with negative comments, which left the couple shocked.

Negative feedback

Given all this criticism, Amy Baron admitted that the fame she received from the viral video was mostly negative. “When we were planning the wedding, everyone was telling me I would regret it, and now the people who weren’t supporting us are commenting negatively on everything related to us,” she explained. Amy further added that it has been a struggle for them, especially after the wedding, as they received many nasty messages and posts on social media, which were not supportive at all. They had to cut those hateful messages and people out of their lives.

Wedding happiness and rejecting hate

However, despite all these difficulties, Amy and Hunter are happy about their wedding and are in complete agreement that they will not let the hate and criticism affect their marriage. Amy said that she will still keep sharing videos about their wedding, as the day was a dream come true for her. This couple has proved that the real meaning of marriage is love and true relationships, not expensive clothes and ritualistic habits.
